Recently, journalist Benny Johnson visited Washington, DC, to film a practical joke.

At the Department of Transportation's headquarters, he set up a fake station offering bottles of water from East Palestine, Ohio, only to encounter a 25-year veteran of the DOT who revealed that the bungled response to the February 3 train derailment in East Palestine was politically motivated. According to the man, under Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, the department directs resources based on a state's political leanings, with blue states taking precedence over red states. Since 70% of East Palestine votes went to Trump, the man claimed they were ignored.

The man also discussed how the government instructed the railroad to burn off toxic chemicals released by the derailment to reduce the risk of a vinyl chloride explosion and how residents returned home to find a chemical odor and dead fish in rivers and creeks.

"You didn't hear this from me. Within the office there. They're saying that derailments are down 15 percent since Covid, but we know the derailments are up. They're trying to paint that picture so as not to bring the harsh light," he continued to claim that the numbers used are from 2020-2021.

The man also revealed that the Trump administration improved the inspection process with "automatic inspection systems, computers on vehicles, they measure, they shoot laser beams. It's a fact. They capture information. That's better. This administration put a hold on all that because it takes away union jobs."

Finally, he commented on Buttigieg's alleged lack of presence at the office and how the staff was encouraged to be present if he decided to visit.

These revelations warrant further investigation and underscore the importance of maintaining a rigorous and impartial approach to allocating resources. In the wake of this story, it is crucial to ensure that the government responds to crises in a fair, balanced, and effective, regardless of any political leanings. The water bottles handed out by Johnson were actually from Whole foods.
